POINTLESS FOREVER;;

May 2nd, 1998
As the Dark Lord fled for Hogwarts, seeking out both the last of his hidden Horcruxes and the famed Harry Potter, his followers all over the world waited comfortably for their orders to come to them. They remained patiently at their assigned posts; Augustus Rookwood and his accomplices were safely concealed at Durmstrang while Rabastan Lestrange and his own small army of Death Eaters waited at an inn just outside of Beauxbatons. Everyone was waiting with bated breath, waiting for the news of victory they knew would come. In their minds, it was only a matter of hours now before the Dark Lord took control of the Ministry. It was rightfully his, after all. The entire wizarding world knew of his strength, of his unsurpassable power. It was only logical that a wizard such as he be in control. After that, after Hogwarts and the Ministry would be seized, Voldemort would finally have England wrapped around his little finger. The world would be only a step away from complete control.
Bulgaria’s school of magic, Durmstrang, had been ruled by the Dark Arts for years. Igor Karkaroff had been known for the mark that tainted his arm. After his death, Rookwood had easily stepped into the Headmaster position and picked up where Karkaroff left off. The Death Eaters were well on their way to controlling the schools. Control the youth and in time society will be yours was the logic behind their moves. All they would need next was Beauxbatons, which would be pitifully easy to capture. The French, of everyone, seemed the most naive when it came to the Dark Arts.
Mere hours later, instead of the orders they were awaiting, the Death Eaters received shocking news : their beloved Voldemort had been killed and the battle of Hogwarts was lost. Many of their most powerful Death Eaters had been either captured or killed. Returning to England was out of the question. Bulgaria would be safe, but Rabastan Lestrange, known for his pride, wouldn’t give up the fight quite so easily. His last orders were to seize Beauxbatons once Hogwarts had fallen into Voldemort’s control and they were so close. He wouldn’t let his master’s last desires go to waste. He would seize Beauxbatons and rule it just as Voldemort would have liked.
Just as Rabastan had expected, the capture of Beauxbatons was very simple. Olympe Maxime surrendered without a fight and most of the professors agreed with the demands of the Death Eaters in exchange for their lives. Rabastan Lestrange promptly disposed of Olympe Maxime and named himself the new Headmaster of the school. The parents of the students hardly noticed the change of Headmaster and asked no questions.
April 14th, 2020
Rabastan Lestrange and the Death Eaters have had a steady grip on Beauxbatons for twenty-two years. The Death Eaters’ own children have begun attending the school and work as spies for their parents. Rabastan, nearly sixty-four years old, is now retired and gave up his position as Headmaster to his long time assistant, someone with much of the same strength and beliefs as him. Forty-one year old Blaise Zabini now holds power over the school. His methods of control are much more radical than those of Rabastan had been. Blaise doesn’t hold the same careful patience as his mentor had held. He is unnaturally cruel and is well known for imposing impossibly strict rules over students as well as cruel and unusual punishments. His prejudice against muggle-borns seems to have grown intensely in the last couple of years and there are rumours circulating around Beauxbatons that starting this year muggle-borns will no longer be accepted into Beauxbatons. Dark times have settled over the school and the muggle-borns already attending Beauxbatons live in fear of what may happen to them.
Fortunately for the students, not all hope was lost. The Ministry of Magic back in England has finally heard of the new ruling over Beauxbatons. The children of Aurors and Ministry workers alike have been transferred into Beauxbatons to act as spies for their own parents. Awareness of the dictatorship over Beauxbatons is growing, but is it already too late? Will their struggles to regain order be pointless?
